Several years ago, the city decided it was time to development the Ninth Line corridor between Eglinton and Derry and that work has been underway for some time now. Delayed due to COVID, we now have a new community center in the south, as well as the beginnings of new residential neighhbourhoods in the north. My dogs and I enjoy walks around the community center grounds, watching the kids at the skateboard park and the soccer field. We can hear the players shouting and laughing when we pass the tennis courts. It's wonderful to have a facility so close for swimming, programs, and enjoying the outdoors.
Local residents were sent a survey some time ago and I made sure to fill it out. In my perfect world, there would be adequate space along the multi-lane road to accommodate walkers and cyclists rather than having to share space but that might be overreaching. Regardless, soon we'll be able to accomodate more traffic as well as have more places to walk and cycle. I just hope they keep the beautiful forest near the Union Gas plant. It's so wonderful to watch the forest change through the seasons.
